Armenia, Ukraine Resolved Trade Dispute

The trade dispute between Ukraine and Armenia regarding discriminatory excises taxes on Ukrainian alcohol and tobacco products imported into Armenia has been resolved, reports Kommersant Ukraine.

According to an Armenian government decision, excise taxes for local and Ukrainian alcohol and tobacco products will be equalized beginning from Jan. 1, 2011. Exceptions will be made for very expensive cigarettes.

At the same time, Ukraine has gained a privileged position in the Armenian market because its products will be taxed at lower rates than those from third countries.

Note that in 2009, Ukraine resolved a similar dispute with Georgia.
