When the police behaves well, doesn’t provoke disorder, everything goes in an ideal state (smoothly), said Armenian National Congress (HAK) coordinator Levon Zurabyan to demonstrators gathered on Yerevan’s Northern Ave. today.
The march organized by the opposition group concluded without incident on Northern Ave. Zorabyan noted that in the period following March 1, 2008, as a march in and of itself, this gathering was the largest.
“This regime, against which we are fighting, today is weakening, is breaking up before your eyes, but our movement is becoming better organized and tactical,” he said.
Also speaking to marchers was Aram Manukyan, who compared the situation in Armenia with those in European countries.
“Sometimes we envy the Europeans, the type of civic engagement they bring when they resolve their country’s problems. Today I was convinced that our Movement, our will, our morality, our strength, our motivation are ten times stronger, because we’re not struggling for one incident, we’re not fighting for one cause, but for three consecutive years, we haven’t left the streets, the three-year will, tenaciousness, the strive to achieve victory is not fading within us, and in that sense, we’re stronger than the English, the Greeks and so on,” said Manukyan.
