The creation of the Online Liberals Alliance is a welcoming initiative, said Armenia’s former foreign minister, Armenian National Congress member Alexander Arzumanyan.
Note that the Armenian National Congress and Committee for the Protection of Political Prisoners and Persecuted People member Karapet Rubinyan made an announcement on Facebook last week about the creation of a group whose aim is “to unite the liberals of Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh and the [Armenian] Diaspora.” (The group has since been created on Facebook.)
“This is an initiative which, in an online environment, will try to use the potential that exists among liberals, in Armenia, in the Diaspora, in Nagorno-Karabakh, and the entire world, and together to think about what steps can be taken in the future aimed at the liberalization of Armenia. This is simply one of those critical currents which, in the specter of today’s Armenia, is beginning to lose its effect. It is aimed at restoring that influence which, if successful, will give only great opposition potential to the general movement,” said Arzumanyan.
