There are both positive and negative elements in the activities of People’s Party of Armenia leader Tigran Karapetyan, said Sardarapat Movement Jirair Sefilian, speaking to journalists today.
He preferred to speak of the positive, noting that the thousands of supporters who gathered at Karapetyan’s rally proves that no opposition politician should think so highly of themselves, recognizing that the people belong to no one.
“That also refers to Tigran Karapetyan,” he said.
He said that the “pale colors [of life] have become so saturated that the people are ready to revolt, ready to resist.”
According to Sefilian, if we assume theoretically that Tigran Karapetyan is a land mine planted by Armenia’s ruling authorities (to divide the opposition and its supporters), then opposition Armenian National Congress leader Levon Ter-Petrossian could’ve “detonated that bomb” by joining in Karapetyan’s rally yesterday. That is, the Armenian government’s plan to divide the opposition would’ve backfired if Karapetyan and Ter-Petrossian joined forces.
Sefilian then repeated one of his views that he voiced in an interview that if any political force accepts Serzh Sargsyan as the country’s president, then that force cannot be an opposition. And that, according to Sefilian, also refers to Tigran Karapetyan.
