Once again, a large number of people had gathered today in the yard of the building at 21 Teryan St. in Yerevan. Residents from the buildings that share the yard continue to protest and obstruct construction taking place in their yard. They have been there since the construction began.
Also on scene is a State Preservation Board police vehicle. Police are urging those gathered not to obstruct the work, stating that the construction company has appealed to them and now they must monitor the area.
Despite police warnings, people continue to insist that they will fight for their rights till the end and will not allow a (high-rise) building to be built in their yard.
Residents have also written a letter to Yerevan Mayor Karen Karapetyan. Today, they were gathering signatures before sending the letter to the municipality.
Note that nowhere in the area does it state the name of the developer or what the building will look like upon completion, which violates current laws.
Speaking to Epress.am on Saturday, residents said, according to rumors, the construction is being carried out by the company Local Developers, which belongs to businessman Samvel Mayrapetyan.
Residents are complaining that if a high-rise building is built in their yard, their view will be blocked and they won’t receive any sunlight. People expressed readiness to block the construction every time construction workers began their work in the yard.
