Street Vendors Unable to Protest in Front of Yerevan City Hall Today

The protest by street vendors set to take place in front of Yerevan City Hall at 1 pm today did not happen. Vendors protesting the mayor’s ban on street trade attempted to gather in front of the municipality building and sell their wares on the spot (as a sign of protest); however, police prevented them from crossing the street and approaching the building.

Thus, demonstrators gathered on the sidewalk across the street from the municipality and seeing no possibility of being able to cross the street, they decided to go to the president’s residence instead.
