US Embassy in Armenia Clarifies Yovanovitch’s Presidential Residence Meeting

As reported earlier, Yerevan vendors protesting the mayor’s ban on street trade moved their demonstration from Yerevan City Hall to the Armenian president’s residence.

While vendors were gathered at the president’s residence, US Ambassador to Armenia Marie L. Yovanovitch was seen entering the very same building.

Epress.am called the US Embassy in Armenia to find out the reason for the meeting. A US Embassy representative informed us that the meeting was private.

“These meetings happen on a regular basis and are part of our ongoing consultations with the Armenian government,” the US Embassy representative said.
