The next rally organized by the opposition bloc the Armenian National Congress (HAK) will be held on Feb. 18 at 5 pm in Liberty Square (next to the Opera), said HAK coordinator Levon Zurabyan at a press conference in Yerevan today, adding that they’re getting ready to submit a request for a rally permit to Yerevan City Hall.
“You’re all witness to how the social situation in the country has become exacerbated, the people are in a difficult situation, a situation that I can compare only with the [Nagorno-Karabakh] war years,” he said.
According to him, the country’s ruling authorities cannot make fundamental improvements: “This flawed system serving the oligarchs cannot break off the branch on which it sits.”
On the day of the rally, said the opposition activist, they will address those issues which concern the people and that has to do with every area of people’s lives.
As for the possibility of being (once again) denied by the municipality to gather in Liberty Square, Zurabyan said, “Let them deny [it], then we’ll think of our [next] steps.”
