Armenia’s Ombdusman to Receive Higher Salary in New UN Post

Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Armen Harutyunyan has officially announce his resignation.

“According to RA Law on National Assembly Rules of Procedure Article 97 Section 6, I have submitted my resignation to the RA National Assembly, informing them that I have been offered the position of Regional Representative of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Central Asia,” said Harutyunyan.

Recall that local media reports in the past month had indicated this news; however, it was only recently that Armenia’s now former Ombudsman officially confirmed the news.

According to an Epress.am source in Bishkek, Harutyunyan’s monthly salary in his new position will be about $15,000 US.
