Nagorno-Karabakh Top Priority for US Ambassador in Baku

Newly appointed US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza said that his top priority as ambassador is pursuing a peaceful and just settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Bryza made this remark during a reception organized by the US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC), reports Trend news agency.

Recall that Bryza’s candidacy caused discontent among Armenians in the US, who accused the diplomat of bias in the Karabakh and the Armenian Genocide issues, as well as having close ties with the leadership of Turkey and Azerbaijan.

It was previously reported that Bryza will arrive in Baku in early February.

The post of US ambassador in Baku had been vacant since the previous ambassador, Anne Derse, completed her diplomatic mission in July 2009.
