It’s possible that Jirair Sefilian, the activist behind the Sardarapat movement, will make a speech at the Feb. 15 People’s Party rally outside the Matenadaran (Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts), said People’s Party leader Tigran Karapetyan at a press conference today.
Commenting on rumors that he met with Sefilian and is preparing to meet with People’s Party of Armenia (not to be confused with Karapetyan’s party) leader Stepan Demirchyan and Republic party leader Aram Sargsyan, Karapetyan said:
“I had a phone conversation with Sefilian, but I have neither met with nor spoke on the phone to Demirchyan or Sargsyan, and I’m not preparing to.”
Asked by Epress.am whether Karapetyan might be preparing to call a rally in Yerevan’s contested Liberty Square, the People’s Party leader said, “If I did such a thing, HAK [the Armenian National Congress] would say, see, he wants to take over this too. It doesn’t matter where I will gather with the people. You will be witness to such rallies that you haven’t seen before, you can’t even imagine.”
