Protestors Outside Baku’s Iranian Embassy Call for End to Armenia-Iran Cooperation

The representatives of the World Azerbaijanis Congress, the International Centre of Diaspora, some public organizations, war veterans, and students protested outside the Iranian Embassy in Baku today.

According to News.az, citing APA news agency, protestors were chanting “Ahmadinejad-Sargsyan friendship is the real face of Iran’s Muslim fanaticism!,” “Shame to those who embrace the killers!,” and “Persian, Russian, Armenian – they are the Turk’s enemy!,” among other slogans chastising Iran for its interference in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs, as well as cooperating with Armenia.

Protestors were also calling on Iran to protect the rights of Azerbaijanis living in Iran.

The embassy staff refused to accept the resolution submitted by protestors.

Police intervened and, according to Trend news agency, one protestor was detained.
