Azerbaijanis ruined my visit to Brussels, where discussions on Karabakh’s refugees were taking place on Feb. 9 within the framework of the OSCE, said Assembly of Azerbaijani Armenians NGO President Grigory Ayvazyan, speaking to journalists in Yerevan today.
“The inviting party, [MEP] Damien Abad, who is a member of the European Union–Caucasus friendship group, taking on all the expenses of my trip, invited me to participate in the discussions held within the framework of the OSCE, where I was to meet with the human rights commission, the foreign affairs committee and a number of other committees,” he said.
On Feb. 7, Ayvazyan said, he submitted to the German embassy in Armenia the necessary documents for an entry visa, along with the letter from the inviting party with the request to grant a visa.
“I submitted the documents and they told me to go and receive a response at 4 pm on the 8th of the month. I went, however, they told me they’re refusing [my application] and even tried to convince me to take back the documents, as if, such a thing [i.e. request for visa] never happened. I ask, for what reason did Germany block my visit to Brussels?” he asked.
Ayvazyan deemed the gathering in Brussels to be a “performance” by Azerbaijan, where Azerbaijanis “cried over the issue of half a million refugees.”
Ayvazyan said his group will appeal to the Armenian Cause Bureau (Hay Dat) and the Armenian National Congress of America (ANCA), so that they can assist in organizing meetings with the country’s leadership and citizens, in order to present the events that took place in Baku.
“Armenians and Turks cannot live in one area. Let Germany not think that by displaying favorable treatment, it will share in Azerbaijan’s oil money, because that city is ours,” said Ayvazyan, referring to Baku.
