On Feb. 21, Deputy Chair of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) and the head of the faction Galust Sahakyan met the Ambassador of the Republic of France to the Republic of Armenia Henri Renaud, according to a press release on the RA National Assembly official website.
At the request of the French ambassador, Sahakyan touched upon the perspective of the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections, HHK’s political approaches, the coalition joint statement and in general, the political panorama of the country.
Talking about external and inner challenges, Sahakyan said that the consolidation of the political forces has an important role in the people’s unity.
This was the reason why the Republican Party of Armenia, which won in the 2007 parliamentary elections, did not go separately in the way of forming an executive body, but made a call of unity, as a result of which, four political forces became a coalition.
“This approach of the party has become a political culture, and recently, the joint statement of the three parties that made a political coalition, is the vivid proof of it,” he said.
According to Sahakyan, that was a special declaration to the people: the coalition showed the path it will take, so that until elections, the public won’t have any questions about them and their work.
“This is an important factor in organizing good elections especially from a programmatic point of view, and, with respect to political culture, is a correct and an acceptable step for us,” Sahakyan said.
The head of the HHK parliamentary faction ensured that the coalition parties do their best for the stability of the country, which in turn, is an important factor in political and economic developments.
