Yerevan Mayor Asks Developers to Uphold Construction Norms

Developers in Armenia’s capital must uphold the necessary norms defined for organizing construction, said Yerevan mayor Karen Karapetyan during a working consultation, according to a press release issued by the municipality.

“The request is strict and clear: developers are obligated to ensure safe and suitable movement for residents near construction areas. It’s necessary to take down inventory in order to understand how many developers have surpassed their deadlines. In this way, it’ll be possible to manage this arena effectively. We must ask developers to maintain construction norms, so that inconveniences are not created for Yerevan and Yerevan residents,” he said.

Karapetyan also spoke of those who operate service centers and underground shops in the capital.

According to him, manager of such shops are required to maintain their contractual obligations, to improve, clean and plant greenery in the areas adjacent to their leased premises.

In terms of effectively arranging sanitary cleaning in Yerevan, the mayor ordered a realistic assessment in order to get a clear picture of the fees charged. Karapetyan stressed that the collection and proper allocation of funds can significantly change the waste management situation.
