An Armenian is against “their turning our country into a country of casinos and brothels, is against, because of lack of work, Armenians leaving the homeland or becoming refugees, or attendants and servants in their own country,” reads a statement issued by the activist group Sardarapat Movement, which calls on everyone to participate in the Mar. 1 events organized by the opposition this year.
“Free citizens of the Republic of Armenia, subject to violence by special police units on Mar. 1, 2008, in Liberty Square, did not retreat, but united, raised their voices of protest to the world.
“Preserving what they’ve robbed from the Armenian people over the years and the insatiable frenzy to increase that has blinded the ruling administration’s ringleaders and their minions.
“Riches, power, pleasures: this is the administration’s ethics and life purpose. This is the system of values that they preach every day to people through mass media…
“And, finally, on Mar. 1, Armenian citizens rebelled against the dignity-violating, elections-falsifying, people-oppressing ruling administration.
“We call on our supporters and our compatriots, on Mar. 1, 2011, let’s all, united and joined together, participate in all those events which have to take place in our homeland respecting the memory of the victims of Ma. 1,” reads the statement.
