Women’s Rights in Armenia are Clearly Being Violated: MP

If police are able to apply force to women standing on the street (meaning protestors, demonstrators), then it becomes obvious that women’s rights in other areas are clearly being violated, said Heritage Party MP Zaruhi Postanjyan, speaking to Epress.am on International Women’s Day (Mar. 8) about the extent that women’s rights are protected in Armenia.

“Women comprise 50% of our society; however, they are properly represented in neither business nor legislative bodies,” she said.

The National Assembly deputy also wished women to never lose their faith, to remain womanly (female, feminine), to always be loved and have lots of children.

“For us to live in such a country, in such a socioeconomic situation, that women have many children so that we’re not confronted with such a demographic problem,” she said.
