Prisoners in Nubarashen penitentiary who announced a hunger strike on Mar. 12 have ended their protest after receiving a promise from prison chief Tigran Navasardyan to fulfill their demands.
As reported by Epress.am on Saturday (in Armenian only), around 70 prisoners kept in 4 cells had begun a hunger strike, protesting problems tied to family visits and receiving parcels.
Prisoners had written letters to the prison chief regarding this and other matters; however, he had refused to accept them. The hunger strikers were able to inform their relatives of the aforementioned two demands. It is not yet known what other requests they made.
