Yerevan street vendors were again protesting the ban on street trade outside city hall today. This time, the demonstration was held without incidents and police did not interfere with protestors, who were chanting their demands for street trade to be reinstated in the Armenian capital.
Unlike in previous instances, when police did not permit protestors to stand on the sidewalk outside the municipality building (and instead urged them across the street), this time protestors were allowed to stand in their chosen area, directly outside the building’s main entrance.
On the scene today was Heritage Party Anahit Bakhshyan.
Note, protestors decided to march over to Liberty Square where Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovannisian is currently staging his hunger strike to support him.
