On Tues., Mar. 22, young artist Vahagn Ghukasyan’s solo exhibit Children of the Variegated Colors will open at 5 pm at the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art (ACCEA, or NPAK in Armenian).
Local artist Arman Grigoryan, in a statement on the exhibit (available in English and Armenian on the event Facebook page), notes:
“Vahagn Ghukasyan, in our society, which is in pursuit of principles of usefulness and expediency, has challenged himself to contest the notion of obligatory work, or in the broad sense, the notion of laziness, which is nothing but rebellion against systems of exploitation.
“An artist who has lived a long life in the history of art — he has no other place to live — starts searching for paintings, which should have been painted by someone, somewhere, sometime, and when he fails to find them, he paints them himself.
“The Children of Variegated Colors is an artistic monologue recited in the indifferent clamor of the present and the watchful silence of the future.”
The exhibit is open to the public and runs through till April 2.
