A journalist with local daily Hraparak in the National Assembly yesterday asked Republican Party of Armenia MP Vazgen Karakhanyan, didn’t he visit Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovannisian? Recall, Hovannisian has been on a hunger strike in Liberty Square since Mar. 15.
“And what suggested that I should go?” asked Karakhanyan.
“In your opinion, should one go or not?” the newspaper correspondent rephrased his question.
“To tell the truth, I haven’t gone, but I’ve sent foodstuffs; he refused to accept them,” said the MP.
The journalist then asked, why did Karakhanyan send food to someone on a hunger strike: was he trying to tempt him?
“No, of course, no. I made my humanitarian gesture,” he responded.
The ruling party member sent Hovannisian cheese, bread, sausages and tomatoes, which were sent back from Liberty Square. The newspaper reports that during the 7 days of Hovannisian’s hunger strike, only one other person has offered him food: an unnamed vagabond who brought him a meat pie.
