The players and coaches of the Russian national football team have begun to prepare for their 2012 UEFA European Football Championship qualifying match with Armenia on Mar. 26 in Yerevan, as well as the qualifier with Qatar on Mar. 29 in Doha.
On this occasion, head coach of the Russian national team Dirk Nicolaas “Dick” Advocaat met with journalists.
“There are still 6 matches. As I always say, a prize awaits the winner in the end. Meanwhile, already 5 matches are behind us. But I understand that if we win in Armenia, the opponent will fall 5 points behind us. But if there’s a different outcome, they will remain in the group of teams fighting to get to the final championship.
“The conditions will be the same for us and for Armenia, except that the opponent will hold the fourth match out of five on home turf. However, what’s important for us is not how our opponents play, but how we’ll play. Naturally, you can’t play like we did in the matches with Iran and Belgium. We need to act like we did in Ireland and Macedonia. That is, very aggressive: showing good football. I think everyone’s ready for that. There are no more weak opponents in football,” Advocaat said.
