Raffi Hovannisian Says Thanks to Supporters — and Police

For power to be returned to the people, the government’s awareness, as well as the people’s spirit and determination is necessary, said Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovannisian today at an outdoor press conference in Yerevan’s Liberty Square, where he has been on a hunger strike since Mar. 15.

The party leader also expressed his gratitude to those who support him.

“By erecting the tent, my fellow citizens defended my right. In the first place, this was the people’s demand and the result of the struggle. I’m proud that we have such citizens. Thank you as well to [Armenia’s] Human Rights Defender, his office, journalists, and supporters for supporting me,” he said, adding a note of thanks to police officers who didn’t intervene when the tent was being erected yesterday evening.

Note, it’s already been 10 days that Hovannisian has been on his “Fast for Freedom.”
