Turkish pipeline company BOTAS has begun negotiations with Greek company DEPA regarding the transit of Azerbaijani gas. The main topic of the talks is the raising of prices for the transport of Azerbaijani gas, reports Baku-based news agency ANS Press, citing Turkish newspaper Haberturk.
Since Turkey pays $250 US (up from $120 US) per thousand cubic meters for Azerbaijani gas, BOTAS is asking the Greek party to bring transport prices in line with new conditions. According to information from another source, the Greek company has not agreed to this formula and insists on retaining the old price.
If DEPA continues to defend its position, Turkey’s energy ministry doesn’t exclude the possibility of launching a lawsuit with the International Court of Arbitration. According to Turkish media, in the development of such a scenario, Turkey has every chance of winning the case.
