In the near future, former foreign minister of Armenia Vartan Oskanian will become more actively involved in domestic political life, reports local daily 168 Dzam (“168 Hours”), adding that is this likely tied to the 2012 parliamentary and the 2013 presidential elections. The paper also notes that second president of Armenia Robert Kocharian will also return to active political life.
“I don’t know what Kocharian’s political aims are. I’ve worked with him for years as foreign minister and prior to that, when he was the president of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh. I think that our work was effective. Today too I keep ties with Kocharian; occasionally we meet and talk about the issues in the country. But we don’t have political or other plans together,” Oskanian told the 168 Dzam reporter.
On the subject of his returning to politics, Oskanian said he has not yet decided the how and when of his political involvement and is unable to comment further on this matter. He did, however, add that “nothing is excluded.”
