In 2010, Georgia’s Black Sea resorts were visited by over 50,000 tourists who arrived by train. The management of Georgian and Armenian railway companies suggest that the number of tourists from Armenia to Georgia will increase by three times this year, reports Business Georgia.
Thus, before the start of the holiday season, the two railway companies are preparing to transport a large number of passengers. Accordingly, a high-speed Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan passenger train (route 201/202) will be operating daily from Jun. 15 to Sept. 30, 2011.
There are also plans to operate an additional Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan train (route 402/401) twice a week (Tuesdays and Fridays) from Jul. 15 to Aug. 25.
A meeting between staff of customs and border agencies from both countries is set to take place on May 15 to discuss transportation issues.
