The first Kish International Film Festival is being organized from Apr. 24–28 by the Centre for Free and Special Economic Zones and Iran’s Bureau of Film and Audiovisual Affairs, Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. Visitors do not require a visa to travel to Kish, which is an economic free zone.
At least 33 territories have been invited to submit the best films from the last 5 years, including Harutyun Khachatryan’s Border and Return of the Poet — the first, in the feature film category, and the second, in the documentary film category, according to a release issued by the Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival, of which Khachatryan is the General Director.
Apart from the film director, also invited to Iran are cinematographer Vrej Petrosyan and cineaste, film critic David Muradyan.
