Apr. 17 is the 79th birthday of the late Karen Demirchyan, First Secretary of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic, then founder of the People’s Party, who was shot, along with other politicians, in the Oct. 27, 1999 Armenian parliament shooting.
To mark the occasion, Armenian National Congress (HAK) members led by HAK leader Levon Ter-Petrossian joined Demirchyan’s friends and family visiting Demirchyan’s tomb in the Komitas Pantheon, where they paid their respects and placed a wreath.
As reported by the Epress.am correspondent on site, during this time, Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovannisian and his wife arrived at the Pantheon.
When Ter-Petrossian was walking around the Pantheon, Hovannisian approached him and they spoke privately for about 15 minutes.
