Russian-Armenian comedian, star of the TV series “Nasha Russia” (“Our Russia”) Mikhail Galustyan doesn’t have any feelings of inferiority that his acting profession kick-started with KVN (an international club and humor show), that he hasn’t taken courses in fencing at GITIS (Russian Academy of Theatre Arts) and that he wasn’t taught the Stanislavski system by some famous actor, said Galustyan himself during an interview with the Russian-language Kazan Gazette.
“I play roles that suit me, and I don’t claim to go for anything serious, such as the role of Hamlet. If I made such a move, of course, I wouldn’t have enough skills. Though such roles are not offered to me,” he said.
Speaking about the “boundaries of humor,” Galustyan said, “Although a joke has no limits, I understand that I won’t make a joke about terrorism. Before, I couldn’t understand, how could one joke about people with disabilities, but now I’m convinced that one simply has to display the right approach. No need to joke about the fact that a person has no legs. One has to show how this person does something good and funny. And if your jokes are about war, the First or Second World War or the Great Patriotic War, no matter with what sauce you serve it, it’ll be wrong.”
