Approval ratings of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his pro-Kremlin United Russia party have dropped to their lowest levels in two years, two Russian pollsters said, reports RIA Novosti, citing Vedomosti.
According to one nationwide survey, since Jan. 2010, the popularity of the president in the eyes of Russian citizens declined from 62% to 46%, while public trust in the prime minister dropped from 69% to 53%. The rating for the ruling party reached its lowest in the past two years: 44%.
In late 2010, Putin’s approval ratings remained stable, while Medvedev’s grew. In late 2010, for the first time, the prime minister’s approval ratings caught up with the president’s. However, in January, public trust ratings of both the president and the prime minister dropped by 6–7%, according to another poll. As reported by the media at the time, such sharp fluctuations didn’t even occur in the midst of the financial crisis.
