Routes to Yerevan Still Closed. Regional Opposition Leader Taken to Police

Ahead of the Armenian National Congress rally this evening, a number of routes to Yerevan have been closed since this morning. In particular, the Martuni and Sevan roads leading to Yerevan, while the road near the village of Yeranos is blocked by Police Patrol Service of Armenia vehicles.

As told to Epress.am by HAK press spokesperson Arman Musinyan, public transportation routes to Yerevan from Artashat, Artik, Gyumri and Vanadzor are not operating. There are also unconfirmed reports of regular vehicles encountering obstacles in leaving these towns.

Furthermore, in Artashat, Pan-Armenian National Movement (HHSh) regional director Viktor Gasparyan was taken to the local police division at 8:30 am today. Speaking to Epress.am, HHSh board member Harutyun Hovhannisyan provided further details:

“Standing outside of Viktor’s house at 8:30 in the morning were the boys from the criminal unit, they approached Viktor and said, we have to have a short talk with you. When he said bring a summons, those boys said there’s no need for a summons, it’s just a five-minute talk and won’t take long and they took him to the police division. And he’s still there.”
