A park named in honor of slain Armenian-Turkish journalist Hrant Dink officially opened on May 7 in the Turkish municipality of Akdeniz.
Attending the opening ceremony was Dink’s wife, Rakel Dink; political analyst, writer Ali Bayramoğlu; writer, human rights activist Eşber Yağmurdereli; actor Mustafa Alabora; and many others, among them writers and artists.
The park bearing the name of Agos weekly chief editor Hrant Dink “will become a symbol of peace and freedom,” said Akdeniz mayor Fazıl Türk.
Those present honored Dink’s memory with a minute of silence and played a wreath at the foot of the park’s peace and unity monument.
