Azerbaijanis shoot a lot because they are dissatisfied with the negotiating process, said Director of the International Secretariat (Central Hai Dat office) of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) Bureau in Yerevan Giro Manoyan, addressing journalists in Yerevan today and referring to the latest incidents on the “line of contact” between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan.
“When talk goes to saying that the time has come for the principles to be finally adopted by the [conflicting] parties and a great peace document prepared, that means that Azerbaijan has to announce to its public that it can also agree to Karabakh’s status to be outside of Azerbaijan territory, which they have never said,” he said.
The ceasefire violations by Azerbaijan reported over the past few months, Manoyan said, is tied to Azerbaijan’s rising discontent.
According to Manoyan, the issue is also that the international community is represented by the Minsk Group co-chairs, who don’t take decisive action.
“They tell Azerbaijan, it’s ok, we consider also the Armenian side or the Karabakh side to be guilty like you, and so this weak approach by the mediators encourages Azerbaijan with respect to violating ceasefire, so that it continues its policy,” said Manoyan.
