Today We Don’t have Concrete Results in Recognition of Karabakh’s Independence: Sahakyan

Armenia today is the country that has the most interest in and that wants and is doing everything possible for the recognition of the independence of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh (NKR), said president of the de-facto republic Bako Sahakyan in an interview with Ekho Moskvy (“Echo of Moscow”) radio. The interview was conducted by the radio station’s first deputy editor Sergei Buntman, who travelled to Stepanakert, the capital of NKR, for this purpose.

“So many questions are directed at me, at us, as to why Armenia doesn’t recognize Nagorno-Karabakh’s independence. Armenian leaders have repeatedly stated and claim that the reason they have not recognized NKR’s independence is due to the negotiation process within the OSCE Minsk Group. Armenia is working to ensure that Nagorno-Karabakh’s independence is recognized by not only Armenia, but also members of the European and international community.

“We carry out similar work and we do it quite openly. Unfortunately, today we can’t report that we have concrete results in this regard,” said Sahakyan.
