FIFA President Sepp Blatter said on Wednesday future World Cup hosts would be decided by all 208 members at the FIFA Congress and not the exclusive 24-man executive committee board, reports Yahoo! Eurosport.
“In the future the World Cup will be decided by the FIFA Congress. The executive committee will create a shortlist — but will make no recommendations only a list — and the Congress will decide on the venue,” he said, according to the UK-based Mirror Football.
Blatter, speaking at the 61st FIFA Congress in Zurich, told members that while FIFA had gone through “troubled waters,” lessons had been learned and he wanted to take soccer’s world governing body forward.
