The third annual alternative media festival “Rusty Pumpkin” is set to launch on Jun. 13 at 6 pm in the Mkhitar Sebastatsi educational complex Media Center.
As per usual, the festival is concurrent to the more well-known Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival, as the Rusty Pumpkin festival aims to provide an alternative venue to screen films often overlooked by mainstream film festivals.
The festival puts no limits on genre, themes or length. Festival organizers are accepting films until Jun. 8 — in AVI or DVD format, as well as video shot by mobile phones.
Films can be nominated in the following categories:
1. Directing
2. Screenplay
3. Cinematography
4. Animation Film
5. Rusty Film
The festival launches on Jun. 13 at 6 pm with film screenings as well as a performance by Quartet Zangezi.
Films will continue to be screened on Jun. 14 at 6 pm, after which the jury will choose winners in the 5 categories. Jury members are Karine Matsakyan, Janna Hakobyan, Lilit Sargsyan, Diana Hakobyan, Lusine Vayachyan, Knarik Nersisyan and Anush Mirayan. Festival organizers are Sona Abgaryan and Susanna Amujanyan.
Festival goers are also welcome to come up with their own awards and give it to their preferred filmmaker.
