Cars Submerged in Water as a Result of Heavy Rains and Poor Drainage in Yerevan: Aravot

The heavy rains and hail in Yerevan yesterday afternoon once again proved that as much as the authorities say they’ve done work with respect to drainage of the streets, the fact suggests that their words differ from their actions, writes local daily Aravot in its issue today.

“The capital’s Halabyan, Leningradyan, Shinararneri, and Rubinyants streets and Azadutyan and Heratsi avenues were difficult to pass. Even the Khanjyan Street tunnels drainage system opened by the authorities to great fanfare wasn’t working. And a lake had formed on the main street next to the St. Gregory the Illuminator medical center in Nor Nork administrative district and the cars were left [submerged] in the water. Coming to the aid of the drivers here was a garbage truck, which brought the cars out of the water one by one with the use of a rope,” reports Aravot.
