Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh until 1992 and their children can obtain passports and become citizens of Azerbaijan, Bayram Safarov, head of the Azerbaijani Community of Nagorno-Karabakh public union, told journalists today, report local media.
“If Armenians who originally lived in Nagorno-Karabakh respect Azerbaijani laws, they too can become citizens of Azerbaijan. I am sure that average Armenians are waiting for the day when we will go back there,” he said.
Safarov urged Armenians who were once citizens of Azerbaijan to support the policy pursued by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
