After the mayoral elections in the Armenian town of Artashat, Artashat mayoral candidate Kajo Grigoryan (no party affiliation) complained of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun or ARF-D) and the Heritage Party representatives who, according to Grigoryan, in the electoral commission conceded their place to the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK). Note, Grigoryan’s opponent was HHK candidate Gagik Muradyan.
Speaking to Epress.am, Grigoryan described how he appealed to both parties, asking how they, as the parliamentary opposition, can keep legitimacy.
Grigoryan said that as a response, they said they can help with nothing.
“I say, forgive me, I don’t need help — just, can you ensure legitimacy? They say, you know what, we respect this mayor; with our families, our relatives, we are going to go and help them. I say, I understand you [now]. And I also said, Dashnaktsutyun and Heritage party, you shout that you’re opposition, then whey are all the commission members HHK [members]? They avoid responding and they help too, for there to be falsification,” he said.
Note, the official results of the voting have still not been published on the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia’s website.
