The Yerevan Circus will have its final performances on Jul. 17 and 24, before being closed for two years. Speaking to Armenpress news agency, Yerevan Circus Art Director Sos Petrosyan said Jul. 24, the circus’ official closing, will be a charitable affair for children from orphanages and poor families.
Work on repairing the building and bringing it up to modern standards will begin on Aug. 1. According to Petrosyan, the newly reconstructed building will be able to host the best circuses from around the world, organize mass attraction events and so on.
The Yerevan Circus Art Director also added that the circus won’t be inactive for two years: they are looking at different options to keep it going. One of these options is to become a traveling circus; the other, to lease another venue.
