RA Ministry of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan, in an interview with Russian-language news portal Evrasia (“Eurasia”), talked about her father, Stepan Poghosyan, a historian who for many years headed the State Committee on Television and Radio of the Armenian SSR.
“My father is among those breed of people who care about everything. The number one problem for him is our television programs. [Growing up,] he watched television that educated people, but today it does exactly the opposite. And he is having a hard time dealing with this. For 20 years, my father led national television.
“My biggest responsibility, after reporting to RA President Serzh Sargsyan, is speaking with my father. If he finds something unpleasant in my work and he tells me about it, I feel very badly. He is more progressive than the youth [of today]. He often says things that shock me, but after a while I realize that he is right,” she said.
