Ruling Coalition Party Member Did Not Rule Out Possibility of Early Elections in Armenia

Prosperous Armenia MP and member of the working group engaged in dialogue with the opposition Vardan Bostanjyan, speaking to journalists in Yerevan today, said he sees no obstacle in implementing the five points raised by the Armenian National Congress in a statement the opposition bloc issued on Jul. 19.

Recall, the main point HAK noted was providing live broadcasts of future such meetings, but if this demand could not be met, then HAK “should be provided at least a half hour of live broadcast on Public TV after every meeting, in order to present its views to the public.”

“I suppose there won’t be any problem,” said Bostanjyan, speaking particularly about ensuring live broadcasts.

The ruling coalition party member also weighed in on HAK’s demand for early elections, saying this issue could become a topic of discussion during the ensuing dialogue.

Bostanjyan noted that if HAK could provide grounds for holding pre-term elections, then the issue might be resolved.

Nevertheless, Bostanjyan considered this issue to be the hardest to solve.
