Yerevan City Hall Gives Green Light to New Hotel Adjacent to Republic Square Metro

A proposal to build a 7–8 story hotel in the area adjacent to the Republic (“Hanrapetutyun”) metro station was on the agenda of a Yerevan City Council meeting chaired by Yerevan mayor Karen Karapetyan on Jul. 21.

According to a press statement issued by the municipality, present at the meeting were 27 out of the urban council’s 30 members, who discussed the proposal for a hotel designed by architect Narek Sargsyan.

With 24 in favor and 3 abstaining, council members approved the proposal.

Another item on the agenda was the discussion of building a 20-story hotel on 36 Aram St.. The proposal was presented by architect Albert Karoyan. Council members unanimously voted against this project, proposing the number of stories be restricted, taking into consideration the height of the adjacent buildings.
