The dialogue between the Armenian National Congress (HAK) and the ruling coalition continues, said member of the ruling coalition delegation, Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) MP Gagik Minasyan, responding to a question at a press conference in Yerevan on Wednesday on whether it’s possible that the dialogue will be halted.
“During the dialogue, promises aren’t made — situations are discussed; they try to find solutions in that there are many problems in our country and the best version of resolving these problems is the coming together of forces,” he said.
Asked by reporters whether it’s possible that HAK activists arrested on Aug. 10 will be released by this Friday, the ruling party MP responded rather evasively:
“It depends solely on legal procedures. I am far from this sector, and I can’t say anything for sure. Yesterday we addressed these issues, but those issues which are [a part of] the function specially created for state institutions, naturally, they cannot address.”
Minasyan also stated that these negotiations are a difficult process; however, a “constructive spirit prevails” among the parties, which allows them to find solutions in very difficult situations.
Furthermore, the deputy stated that if the ruling coalition delegation agreed with HAK’s 87-page document, then it wouldn’t prepare a response. Note, HHK’s response was summarized in a 130-page document, which will be presented to the opposition delegation at their next meeting.
