The aerial tramway didn’t carry out all of its planned trips this past Saturday and Sunday. It operated with some breaks due to weather conditions, Wings of Tatev tramway director Tigran Ghazaryan told Epress.am.
“Last Saturday and Sunday, due to changes in the weather, the Tatev cable car was not operating on a full schedule, and now the tramway is in the process of moving from a summer to an autumn schedule, more details of which will be announced. Weather conditions in Syunik marz [the Armenian province in which the tramway is located] have changed, and we are moving perforce to a fall schedule.
“The equipment is being made to correspond to weather conditions and relative barometric pressure, and we are implementing other necessary actions. Naturally, it is not possible to immediately warn [passengers] of short-term breaks in service that are due to weather conditions. And we even told those passengers that are in the cable car, ‘You know, the weather is good now, but in a few minutes, it might change’,” Ghazaryan explained, addressing tourists’ complaints that they were not forewarned that the tramway would be closed when they arrived this past weekend and were forced to turn back.
