Republican MP Says He Doesn’t Believe WikiLeaks, Opposition Speaker Calls for Investigation

The WikiLeaks findings are direct proof of all that which Armenian National Congress (HAK) representatives have repeatedly said, said HAK representative, former deputy national security minister Gurgen Yeghiazaryan, speaking to journalists in the Armenian capital today.

“We live in a country where a Constitutional Court member is not protected, where it’s very doubtful whether he will make it home today or not. So what should the average citizen do, is he not to leave the house, because the murderer is waiting outside his door? That is to say, inside, they know about the shameful acts. And the Mar. 1 crime conducted in this atmosphere. Through a martial coup, by violating the Constitution, spitting on the Constitution, they came to power,” he said.

Also present at the press conference, ruling Republican Party of Armenia MP Lernik Aleksanyan, in turn, said he doesn’t completely believe in the WikiLeaks findings.

“I’m not saying there’s no truth [in it]… I [just] wouldn’t accept [the findings] as grounds. I would think it over, analyze [the facts],” he said.

In response, Yeghiazaryan proposed a criminal case be launched on the basis of these findings.

“… let a criminal case be launched; the investigation clarify, did Poghos Petros call and say or didn’t say those things,” he retorted.
