Iranian Wrestler Refused to Compete Against Israeli of Armenian Origin

Two Iranian wrestlers, Mohsen Hajipour and Ghasem Rezaei, refused to compete against Israeli contestants in the World Championship Wrestling, which kicked off in Istanbul on Monday.

In the case of Hajipour, he intentionally lost to Moldova’s Donior Islamov to avoid competing against an Israeli athlete in the second round, reports Vesti.az.

While Rezaei was disqualified after he failed to show and his Israeli opponent — Robert Avanesyan of Armenian origin — was named the winner, reports Iranian.com.
