War Veteran Suggests How to Root Out Corruption in the Army

Commander of the Shushi battalion during the Nagorno-Karabakh War and one of the founders of the Sardarapat civic movement Jirayr Sefilian, on his Facebook page, today opined how to eliminate corruption from the Armenian Armed Forces:

“In the army, as a centripetal structure, in order to root out bribery, it’s enough that high-ranking commanders strictly prohibit; for example, to serve and be consistent. As a solution, this might seem simple, but I’m convinced that everything starts from the top. It’s preferable to begin the fight against corruption from the army and then the other security forces. Military officials’ luxurious cars are unacceptable when a significant portion of the nation is destitute,” he wrote.
