Vladimir Sarukhanyan (Armenia) on Saturday lost to Jose Ramirez (USA), 12-22, in the 60kg category in the AIBA World Boxing Championships, which run from Sept. 22 to Oct. 10 this year in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku.
On the same day, however, previous world championship silver medalist Andranik Hakobyan of Armenia beat Victor Cotiujanschi of Moldova, 17-10, in the 75kg category.
Armenia’s contestant in the 64kg category, Hrachik Javakhyan, having already secured one victory, had his second fight on Sunday. However, he lost 6-10 to the Czech Republic’s Zdenek Chladek.
Fighting today will be Hovhannes Danielyan (Armenia) vs. Naoya Inoue (Japan) in the 49kg category, as well as Russia’s David Ayrapetyan of Armenian origin vs. the US’ Eros Correa (in the same category).
