The service vehicle belonging to Mkhitar Gishyan, an investigator with the Noyemberyan division of Armenia’s road police, along with other cars, was trapped in Sunday’s landslide near Ayrum railway station, reports local daily Aravot (“Morning”).
When the car was removed from under the rubble, the police inspector found that it was missing the audio player, which was later found in the nearby grass, away from the car.
Also complaining about missing items was a Bulgarian truck driver who said that the 4 mobile phones in his truck (which was also recovered from the landslide) were missing.
Another driver, this one from the Armenian town of Noyemberyan, hearing this news, demanded that rescuers not get close to his passenger vehicle which was also being pulled out from the wreckage.
Aravot reports that RA Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsyan, responding to a journalist’s question the day before, said he’s proud of the work of rescuers.
Recall, 5 people are still missing, two of whom are citizens of Georgia of Armenian descent. Search and rescue work is still ongoing.
